Artsist Biographies
Some of Porterville's artists are listed below with their contact details.
Andre du Toit
After my first portrait I knew that I wanted to focus on portraiture.
The painting process is demanding, but the relationship that develops between an image and myself makes it extremely satisfying.
Every painting captures a different mood, feeling or moment.

Monique Nienaber
As someone who grew up in an artistic environment I was very fortunate to be able to enter the field of jewellery design and manufacturing. My father was a goldsmith, and although I toyed with the idea of becoming a vet, I eventually joined my fatherâs business for a 4-year apprenticeship.
I found I thoroughly enjoyed the design and manufacture of jewellery, it allowed me to combine my love of animals with stones and precious metals.
My inspirations come from the stones and materials I use and the expressions of the particular animalâs spirit. Their colour, feel, texture and shape tell me exactly what to do with them just as different fabrics inspire the designs they are made into.
With cutting-edge design and skilful craftsmanship my style is elegant, earthy, classy and modern. My jewellery is ever changing, every collection is a step forward, leaving the past behind. I am always exploring the next level. My customer is design and style savvy and has as a strong sense of individuality.

Joey Koen
As a born and bred Bolander and former inhabitant of Redelinghuys I grew up appreciating and loving nature in all its facets. I also spent time in Namibia and all the earthy influences have helped develop a keen sense of flowers, portraits and figure painting. I have no formal art schoolling but attended various workshops. Art for me is like therapy, it calms and centers me.
